Giving Great Assists:
Skilled yoga teachers employ a variety of tools in order to guide students into their own experience of yoga. This includes, but is not limited to our own presence, attentiveness and energy as well as our verbal and visual cues, to our use of metaphor and story–telling, all of which embody a 'hands-off' approach to assisting students in classes.
In this Continuing Education workshop, we'll explore the teacher-student dynamic and learn how to provide safe and effective hands on assists to students in a class or private setting, empowering students towards a more intuitive experience of yoga postures.
Hands-on assists are an opportunity to use a guiding touch in order to enhance how students might embody a pose on their own, and perhaps cultivate a more mindful quality of attention by aligning the energetic principles of the teacher and student as well as the physical adjustment itself.
Aimed at yoga teachers, both new and experienced, this workshop will be a combination of theory, lectures which provide the context to explore practical application of hands on assists, with an opportunity to put into practice what you have learned with other teachers.
This Professional Development Workshop is Registered with Yoga Australia, so that teachers may qualify to receive 3 CPD points.
