Finding Stillness: A Yoga Retreat in the Mountains of Sri Lanka
Nestled in the secluded mountains near Kandy, Sri Lanka, lies a sanctuary where time slows, and life feels effortless. Our retreat venue, purpose-built and designed with care, invites us into a space of luxury and simplicity. The open-air shala overlooks lush greenery, allowing the morning light to spill in as we greet the day with yoga.
Each day begins with gentle movement and mindful breath, followed by a two-course breakfast and three-course dinner crafted from fresh, vegetarian ingredients. In the evening, meals are savoured by candlelight, accompanied by conversation that flows naturally. Here, connection feels easy, authentic, and nourishing.
Beyond the shala, the surrounding hills beckon. Walks and hikes through the landscape, guided by locals, bring insight into the rhythms of daily life and the serene beauty of Buddhist culture. Their stories add depth to the scenery, creating a bridge between our practice and the life of the land.
What makes this retreat truly special is the feeling of home. From the warmth of the staff to the mindful care woven into every detail, it’s a place where you can truly press pause. It’s only once you arrive that you realise how much you’ve needed this – the chance to step away from the noise of life and sink into a slower, more nourishing rhythm.
Here, everything feels spacious, soft, and deliberate. The days unfold without rush, and those of us on retreat share a quiet synchronicity, moving to the same rhythm. Time seems to have softened, creating a gentle space for reflection, restoration, and reconnection – with ourselves, with others, and with the natural world that surrounds us.
A yoga retreat in these mountains isn’t just a holiday. It’s an invitation to experience slow living at its most natural and restorative. And once you’ve been here, you leave carrying that calm, that clarity, and that subtle but profound sense of being truly nourished.
