Awaken the Body. Remember the Story.

Although she’s not a ‘Goddess of’ in the traditional sense, Sita is revered in Hindu mythology as the embodiment of purity, courage and devotion. Born in the furrow of a field, she is thought to have connections with the earth goddess and some texts describe Sita as a reincarnation of the Goddess Lakshmi.

The significance of Sita and Sri Lanka is the backbone of the Hindu epic known as the Ramayana ~ a tragic love story of Sita and Ram.

King Ravana disguises himself in order to lure Sita into his trap and he forcibly takes her to his powerful and fortified island ~ Lanka ~ where he rules as the Demon King.

Abducted and held captive in Lanka for almost 12 months, Sita draws strength and comfort from being nature, believing it connects her to god and to her beloved Ram.

Whilst in Lanka, she is visited by Ram’s devoted disciple Hanuman who brings her a ring, a symbol of hope and reassurance.

Sita’s story in Sri Lanka is not just a mythical tale but a significant part of the island’s cultural identity, influencing its religious practices, art, and literature.
